Classic Sfinj recipe just like Grandma's! A must-keep recipe for every good occasion, not just Hanukkah. Made with flour, yeast, sugar, and water, these fluffy fritters are fried to golden perfection and coated in sugar.
In a bowl, combine flour, yeast, and sugar and mix well.
Gradually add the water while kneading until fully combined.
Finally, add salt and araq and continue kneading for a few minutes until a sticky and uniform dough is formed.
Cover and let it rise for about an hour or until doubled in size.
In a wide and low pot, heat 1.5 liters of oil over medium heat.
With slightly wet hands, take a piece of dough, shape it lightly, and create a hole in the middle.
Carefully place it in the hot oil and fry on both sides for a few minutes until golden.
Remove to a plate lined with paper towels.
After frying all the Sfinj, place them one by one into a bowl with sugar and coat all sides.
